Frustration getting in the way of your peace of mind?

Frustration getting in the way of your peace of mind?

You never want to regret what you do out of frustration. So instead, use that frustration for good, a catalyst for change, and get (more) creative.

Frustration getting in the way of your peace of mind?

There are many a source of frustration in daily life, but it's what we do with this frustration that's important.

We never want to regret what we do out of frustration.

Believe it or not, frustration can actually be used for good.

When I am feeling particularly frustrated, I recognise it.

I own it.

And I use it as a catalyst for change.

I take steps to deal with it - I get creative!

You see, it's a double edged sword - life and its busyness gets in the way and makes my regular creative practice irregular. But it's also because of that irregular creative practice that my frustration has built up in the first place!

And so, when this happens, it's time to be more proactive in setting aside just 5 to 10 minutes daily to be creative.

That's all it takes.

And by creative, I DON'T mean I try to create a masterpiece.

Instead I doodle and I collage.

Both of these creative tools are SO good for influencing how I process my emotions. The meditative state they give, helps me feel lighter and more positive. And this helps me connect with, and understand, the world around me better.

BUT, stress management does not come overnight.

With REGULAR creative practice, stress management becomes second nature and I can then go on to fully enjoy life.

Emotional resilience is essential for maintaining mental health.

And your creative spirit can significantly boost your self-esteem and help you work through your problems, relieve tension and overcome daily stressors.

LOOKING FOR IDEAS TO DOODLE/COLLAGE?

If you're looking for ideas to doodle or collage, this monthly FREE blog of mine is your go-to.

And this month I show you how to bring more calm into your world by collaging a sunflower.

The creative process is deliberately simple.

It uses the satisfying sensory feedback of tearing paper, and the therapeutic repetition of sponging watercolour for the background.

MY YOUTUBE VIDEO SHOWS YOU HOW TO CREATE IT

My Youtube video here, gives you a visual on how to create it. But to make it even more mindful, add this step: write down your frustrations on the paper BEFORE you tear it.

Putting your emotions into words, and then onto the paper that you will go on to tear up, helps you process & release them more easily.

Once you're done, don't stop there.

JOURNAL WITH YOUR FLOWER

Add your sunflower to your (art) journal, another mindful place for creativity.

You can even showcase other artworks you've created together with your sunflower. Much like I am doing here (see below) with a hummingbird I created in watercolour with my students a while back.
