Are your tools hindering your creative flow?

Here I recommend a tool that all my students LOVE, for its ease of use and therapeutic qualities - perfect for creative flow!

Being in the flow state is where MEMORABLE MOMENTS are made and the door to immense creativity is opened. A euphoria of focus and absorption where time slips away and all that matters is what you are doing in the here and now.

For creators, writers, or entrepreneurs this state of mind is a RESOURCE to:

๐ŸŒ€ build momentum instead of wallow in a state of stagnation,
๐ŸŒ€ be fully present with your creation,
๐ŸŒ€ and BRING IDEAS TO LIFE.

How then can you encourage more flow into your life?

Well, quite simply by setting aside some time every day to create. Even 5 minutes will help. But the key is to make it consistent.

And in this creative time, choose your tools wisely!

โœ๏ธ There's a reason why watercolour pencils, instead of say oil paints, are one of my creative tools of choice in my classes.

Watercolour or not, I'm sure you've used pencils to create at one time or another in your childhood, so they don't instil a state of fear or trepidation when faced with them.

There's no asking yourself, 'how the heck do we use these?!'. Instead you'd pick one up and immediately use it how its meant to be used.

Even if you didn't know to add water to the graphite on the paper to get the watercolour effect from these pencils, you'd still be creating without hesitation.

BIG โœ… for inviting in the flow!

But it doesn't stop there.

It's that fluid motion of the water brush over the pencil when activating the graphite that is the most exciting part of using these pencils. It is ๐—ฒ๐˜…

All my students love using them. See my latest Instagram post here where I feature one of my student's amazing work using these pencils.

I bet you would love using them too, so I encourage you to give them a go.

But of course, as with anything, there are pencils, and there are pencils.

I, personally, LOVE Faber Castell . You can't go wrong with a lot of their range, even the student pencils. And if you have the budget for them, their premium range, Albrecht Durer , is gorgeous!

(Another great thing about these babies is that they are all relatively inexpensive in comparison to buying a range of oil paints.)

To get you going, there's a stack of beginner videos on YouTube. One that covers a lot of bases and has a neat little (simple) artwork to create at the end, is this one here

I also have a ton of doodling ideas in my own Greenhouse Youtube channelโ€ฆso how about getting creative with any of those activities by adding some watercolour pencil to the doodle creation!? You can find those activities here.

Why waitโ€ฆget into your creative flow using easy-to-use watercolour pencils! When you see the vibrant watercolour effects they create with such ease, you'll be wondering why it's taken so long to try them out.

Happy creating!
